Breast Cancer is a heartless ailment. It may strike your mother, sister, girl friend, female colleague, or classmate. Many organizations are taking on the fight to eradicate this disease. CHS will dedicate Thursday October 21 for this occasion by encouraging all students and staff to wear pink.
As the old saying goes, knowledge is power. Medical advise is available through a general search on Mayo Clinic, Web MD, and CDC. For additional resources, take a look at the following sites. *American Cancer Society Breast Cancer http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/BreastCancer/index *Breast Cancer Org http://www.breastcancer.org/ *National Breast Cancer Awareness Month http://www.nbcam.org/ *National Cancer Institute Breast Cancer Home Page http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/breast *Image found at http://media.onsugar.com/files/ons1/299/2990487/40_2009/b436ef18d9abb1e0_bc_ribbon-1.jpg Red Ribbon Week focuses our energies on defeating drug & alcohol abuse. Schools, including those at CJUSD, will host events throughout this week to bring attention to this deadly issue. To support this yearly outreach, I have included a few beneficial websites for students and parents. Reliable information is an important step to prevention.

Well, I have a suggestion. Consider buying a book. It stimulates the mind instead of expanding the waistline. There's also truly one for each and every person. The place to purchase these delectable literary confections is at one the two CJUSD book fairs at the Redlands Barnes & Noble book store during the fall 2010 season. By buying any gift item at the store, you will also support the schools since a percentage of the proceeds will be used for library book purchases. The joint Colton High/Colton Middle event will occur on Saturday October 23, 2010 from 9am-11pm. The fundraiser for Terrace Hills Middle will happen on Wednesday December 8, 2010. Books may also be purchased online for up to five days after the event. The internet access information is available at each of the school libraries.
