Enjoy.....
On a bright Wednesday morning of September 18, Jonathan Auxier delighted seventh grade students & teachers alike with his Peter Nimble presentations at the Colton Middle School library. As one teacher later reminded me, local author school visits are rare indeed. In fact, this is the first time I recall ever hearing a writer speak at a school setting. If one ever gave presentation during my own school years, it's longer faded from memory. As a way to thank Mr. Auxier and cherist this momentous occasion, I created a special animoto video. I also included the link for downloads on MAC computers. http://animoto.com/play/7LV7KmpAez2nCcsEv1JW4w Enjoy.....

Over the next few days, local author Jonathan Auxier will host book talks and signings to CJUSD students and staff. He will speak for the first four class periods and lunch at Colton Middle School on Wednesday September 21, 2011. For those who won't get to hear him at Colton Middle, he will appear again at the Colton High School Redlands Barnes & Noble bookstore at the Lugonia Shopping Center on Saturday September 24, 2011. Take a look at Jonathan's website at http://www.thescop.com/ to learn more about his writing.
After I read his Peter Nimble book & listen to Jonathan speak, I will post further thoughts on the Book Club blog on this site. In the meantime, enjoy the Peter Nmble You Tube trailer. Immediately following the CHS Book fair at Barnes & Noble, Scholastic will host two events at Colton Middle and Terrace Hills from Monday October 10-Friday October 14, 2011. CMS and THMS students may purchase books and other stationary items before school, during class visits, and at lunch time. Parents may also visit after their respective teacher conferences. Pay attention to the CMS and THMS announcement for exact times. A percentage of the proceeds will be used to purchase recreational reading materials for the libraries. Image located at http://bwpta.org/site/images/stories/library/59018_complete_theme_art.jpg As I have participated in numerous Barnes & Noble Book Fairs for Colton High, Colton Middle, and Terrace Hills Middle, the primary objective has remained the same: raise as much money as possible for library books for each of the respective school libraries. The upcoming Colton High School Book Fair on Saturday September 24 will include many similar activities such as games, storytime, and music to attract visitors. However, it will slightly differ in scope in that others will also directly reap the benefits of the event.
I ask this question of CJUSD educators. Do you need more money for class supplies? I suspect many will answer in the affirmative. I invite all interested parties to attend a free grant writing workshop sponsored by Barnes & Noble at 11 AM-12PM. The CHS library also receives proceeds for those who also buy the book used during the session. How many of you like to uncover new children's literature-- particularly by a local author? Jonathan Auxier, author of Peter Thimble books, will generously offer his support to our cause. Not only will he give a book talk & have a signing during the 10 AM- 11 AM slot, he will speak at an assembly at Colton Middle School on Wednesday September 21. His books will be available for purchase at the Redlands store. I look forward to seeing many new faces as well as those who have supported the CHS library in the past on the 24th. I specifically tailored an Animoto video for this occasion. http://animoto.com/play/0VnZU5iGnqxlkiBhAxojng Image from http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ULJ2tlK_jSk/TiUFxfqUipI/AAAAAAAABgA/0M7N6FNpX8M/s400/BNCafe.jpg |
