Caroline Cooney writes the fifth segment & conclusion to her epic Face on the Milk Carton series over twenty years after the fourth book in the series. Janie, now a college student, wants to move past being the kidnapped girl on the milk carton. She finds a way to reconcile with both families & former boyfriend Reeve who once betrayed her. However, other integral characters feel differently when a best selling criminal writer decides to write a novel about It. Some respect Janie's privacy in their refusals to be interviewed. However, others take the writers' researchers up on their offers either out of resentment of Janie or determination to have kidnapper Hannah brought to justice. Unlike the other books, danger looms as Hannah comes out of the wood work. Instead of assuming any responsibility for her actions, Hannah blames her family for her impoverished state. She will do what it takes to avenge the life she despises --no matter what the cost.
Cooney engages readers by delving into the lives of all who had been impacted by the milk carton story five years later. Each character's behaviors and choices as result leave room for psychological discussion.
